Toledo Weekend on C-SPAN

Watch C-SPAN2's Book TV and C-SPAN3's American History TV October 19-20 for the Toledo Story


The C-SPAN Cities Tour explores the American story - this weekend taking viewers to Toledo, Ohio on Book TV (on C-SPAN2) and American History TV (on C-SPAN3). Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz's segment will kick off Toledo Weekend, this Friday, October 18th —airing on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal program between 7am-10am ET. C-SPAN is available in Toledo on Buckeye Broadband channels 72 and 581.

On Saturday, October 19th, all of Book TV (C-SPAN2) non-fiction literary offerings from the city will air together in one block beginning at 9:30 am ET (on Buckeye Broadband channels 73 and 582), among the programs….

  • Author Lou Hebert shares the story of the Toledo War, the Auto-Lite Strike, the History of Jeep and Toledo's Port.

  • Mary Stockwell, author of "Unlikely General: "Mad" Anthony Wayne and the Battle for America."

  • Barbara Floyd, author of "The Glass City: Toledo and the Industry That Built It."

  • Frank Kuron, author of "Thus Fell Tecumseh."

  • Timothy Messer-Kruse, author of "Banksters, Bosses, and Smart Money."

  • Samuel Nelson, author of "Beyond the First Amendment."

  • Interview with Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.

On Sunday, October 20th, all of C-SPAN's history programming from Toledo will air on American History TV (C-SPAN3) beginning at 2 pm ET (on Buckeye Broadband channels 87 and 583), among the programs…

  • Local storyteller Tedd Long shares the story of the Toledo War, Newsboys in Toledo, J. Edgar Hoover in Ohio and the Willard vs. Dempsey Fight.

  • The Battle of Fallen Timbers with Shannon Hughes of Metroparks Toledo.

  • Visit Fort Meigs Historic Site with Ashley Phlipot, Interim Director.

  • Col. James M. Schoonmaker Museum Ship with Christopher Gilcrist of the National Museum of the Great Lakes.

  • History of the Great Lakes from Carrie Sowden of the National Museum of the Great Lakes.

  • The Glass Industry in Toledo from Diane Wright and Julie McMaster of the Toledo Museum of Art.

  • Interview with Congresswoman Mary Kaptur (D-OH) on Ohio's 9th District, its economy and the use of federal funding.

  • Interview with Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz.

In addition to the individual segments airing on their respective networks, they will also air together during the following dates and times:
