At the height of the Toledo War, Michigan Deputy Sheriff Joseph Wood crossed south into Ohio and tried to arrest Major Benjamin Stickney. He quickly found out that Toledoans took their borders seriously and messing with the Stickney clan was a bad idea. Stickney and his sons put up a good fight—Two Stickney stabbed Wood with a penknife. The wounds were not fatal, but it was the only bloodshed during the 1835-36 border battle between Ohio and Michigan.
Unless you live under a rock, you know that Ohio won the Toledo War. Today, folks living in the disputed "Toledo strip" reap the rewards of living in the Buckeye state while benefiting from sitting on the Michigan border so they can head up north to enjoy Michigan's consolation prize, the Upper Peninsula, whenever they want.
Pay your respects to the heroism of Two Stickney with this Champion long sleeve shirt. The soft cotton fabric and relaxed fit allow you to wear the shirt on its own, or layer it with your favorite jacket.
